Artist Registration Opens March 1st!
Utah Foster Care’s 11th Annual Chalk Art Festival on Fathers Day weekend is one of the largest and most prestigious street painting festivals in the western United States.
This world-class, community-sponsored performance art event — held at The Gateway — benefits the 2,600 Utah children in foster care and attracts more than 125 local and national chalk artists.
Artists must register to participate. Registration is available by purchasing one of the "ticket" options above.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does registration get me? — First and foremost, registration allows you to participate in the festival. One or more registered artists may work on a single mural. If more than one artist is involved, please register as a team (see below). Registered artists receive chalk, drinking water, lunch on Saturday, various art supplies, an event tee shirt, and a goody bag.
How do I determine what size square I need? — First, choose the artwork you will reproduce and try sketching it out on pavement. If you are just starting out, it's best to start with a smaller square. Square size is required when you register. Remember, you will also need to tell us if is horizontal or vertical.
How many people can be on a team? — Teams may include up to four people. Squares are close together and it becomes difficult to chalk when there are more than four people.
How do I register if I am on a team? — Each member of your team must register individually. (link to registration) All team members should use the same “Team Name” (required at registration) to help us identify them as part of your group. You may not add team members when you register. Unregistered artists will not be allowed to chalk.
Can a child and adult work together? — Yes. But if an adult does ANY chalking, the team must be registered in the Adult category. Adults may watch their youth, but they may not help “fill in” nor do any other work on youth artwork.

Who judges the artwork? — UFC selects judges from Festival sponsors, featured artists, and other UFC supporters.
What are the contest categories and prizes? — Youth and adult artwork is judged separately, in the following categories:
Prizes are donated by Gateway merchants and other community supporters and vary from year to year. We do our best to select prizes that can be enjoyed by one artist or shared by a team of artists.

How do I participate in the Artist Sponsorship Contest? — You can get a sponsor for your chalk art square! Sponsors can be businesses who want to donate to a worthy cause or individuals who would like to honor someone they know. How about honoring Dad for Fathers’ Day with his own chalk art square? How do I Submit my Artwork? — You may mail, email or fax your art work. Artwork is due by May 15. If it is not received by this date, you will forfeit your registration and your place given to another artist. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
